California Scheming, How Democrats Destroy a State

Investor’s Business Daily | Dec. 22, 2008

As the financial crisis in California gets worse, it’s pretty clear the real problem isn’t the budget at all, but a political system that has resulted in a dysfunctional one-party state.

California’s $41.8 billion budget deficit expected over the next two years is a record. No other state even comes close. But despite what the state’s politicians say, it’s not because of the recent economic downturn. It’s because of them.

The state has a budget crisis for the second time in a decade largely because the Democratic-held legislature has spent money wildly and without any real purpose. [Read more…]

The Real Climate Deniers

American Thinker | Brian Sussman | Dec. 16, 2008

Last week, soon-to-be President Barack Obama met with former Vice President Al Gore to discuss global warming. In a brief presser following their closed-door rendezvous, Obama proclaimed, “the time for denial is over.”

Ironically, as Obama yammered, Louisiana hurriedly prepared for a powerful cold front which would arrive the following night. The wintry storm ultimately dumped 6 inches of snow in Livingston Parish and dusted New Orleans with its earliest snowfall since records were accurately established in 1850. And the deep-south cold snap was not an isolated event. [Read more…]

Blame me for job losses

American Thinker | C. Edmund Wright | Dec. 11, 2008

When the jobs report for November came out last week, many so-called “experts” were shocked at the massive loss of an estimated 533,000 jobs. Even a Time /CNN organization called “The Curious Capitalists” were at a loss to explain it.

Let me attempt to help out these “curious capitalists” (though I am still skeptical that anyone working for CNN or Time is either curious or a capitalist). I caused part of this job loss and I know precisely why; the election. The results portend big trouble for small business. [Read more…]

More Proof The Inmates Are Running The Asylum

Gopusa | Doug Patton | Dec. 9, 2008

In the inmates-are-running-the-asylum department, too many cases are popping up to ignore them. Here are a few modest examples:

At the state capitol in Olympia, Washington, Gov. Christine Gregoire (a Democrat, of course), has approved the placement of an atheist sign for public display next to a nativity scene. The sign reads:

“At this season of THE WINTER SOLSTICE, may reason prevail. There are no gods, no devils, no angels, no heaven or hell. There is only our natural world. Religion is but myth and superstition that hardens hearts and enslaves minds. Placed by the Freedom From Religion Foundation on behalf of its Washington State Members.”

Tell that “hardens hearts” nonsense to the millions of Christian believers who have been martyred down through history at the hand of atheist monsters like Stalin and Mao. Personally, I wish I could get a little freedom from the unbelievers who have so totally screwed up life in America. [Read more…]

Orwell’s Children

American Thinker | Bruce Walker | Nov. 16, 2008

It has been sixty years since George Orwell wrote his chilling dystopian classic, 1984, and it has been thirty years since we saw the creepiest example of educated and free people willingly walking into a living dystopia. November 18, 1978, three decades ago, 918 people drank Kool-Aid laced with cyanide. Jim Jones, the communist leader of Jonestown, Guyana, had become “Big Brother.” Soviet and Communist Chinese propaganda films and condemnations of capitalist and imperialist America blared continually to the subjects of this island of Leftist Hell. Why Europe is secretly afraid of a socialist America

American Thinker | James Lewis | Nov. 14, 2008

Europe would crumble like a soggy crouton without America’s commitment to its defense. We saw that happen three times in the 20th century, and the bad news is that it’s starting again. Real danger is at the gates; Europe’s Ruling Class is in denial; and half of it is preparing to surrender to the Russians or the Muslim fascists, whichever gets there first. [Read more…]

GOP Defeat and the ‘New Tone’

American Thinker | C. Edmund Wright | Nov. 6, 2008

Conservatism did not lose last night, as it was not on the ballot. The big winner was ignorance and the biggest loser was the Bush-Rove-McCain brand of watered down Republicanism. Yes, the Bush-Rove-McCain brand. They gave us each other. Much as the two men cannot stand each other, they are ironically much the same. And the result is indeed a new tone in Washington, and it is a scary dreary leftist tone.

We will never beat it back until the watered down bi-partisans are flushed from the system. Thomas Jefferson loved partisanship. Hugo Chavez does not. That should tell us all we need to know about this flawed path our party has been on for many years. Tuesday, our aisle-crossing chickens came home to roost. [Read more…]
