Infantilizing Leftist Morality

Infantile Leftists Cry Baby Socialistsby Daren Jonescu –
Among the various ways that modern leftism benefits from its systematic promotion of infantilism is that perpetual children lack the basic courage that is essential to the maintenance of liberty. A courageous adult will not trade his freedom, let alone that of others, for a “social safety net.” Thus, leftists are deeply invested in cowardice, although naturally, as clever propagandists, they use alternative names in their promotional materials.

Everyone can recall the following experience from his own early childhood: you are wandering through the market with your mother, feeling quite carefree in dawdling among any items that strike your fancy, until suddenly you look around and realize that your mother is nowhere to be seen. Instantly, the reckless abandon of the self-indulgent daydreamer is transformed into a near-paralyzing fear: “I can’t face this strange world alone!”

Being gripped by the fear of abandonment in this way is “irrational,” in the sense that it is reasonable to assume that your mother is not far away, and has not really forgotten you. It is understandable, however, in the sense that as a child, it is actually true that you could not make your way in this unfamiliar terrain alone. [Read more…]

Dumbing Down American Public Education

Dumbing Down American Public Educationby Glenn Fairman –
In thinking about how valuable education is in cultivating the next generation of Americans, my mind took me back nearly twenty years to when I was a graduate student functioning as a substitute teacher at La Puente High School in Southern California. On one assignment, I was to cover a social studies class of some old-timer; he had written down in his instructions that since his classes were on a field trip, my sole duty was to show a movie at 6th period to those who did not attend. What I found that day opened my eyes.

In a dusty corner shelf of the room was a set of thirty-year-old textbooks from the mid-1960s, and although my memory cannot now relinquish their title, their contents burned themselves into my brain. As I flipped through the pages, I was astonished to find what I would now consider an upper-level college textbook under color of what in the high schools used to be termed “civics.” This text contained a very detailed understanding of political theory, constitutional law, macroeconomics, American history, and comparative political systems. I spent the rest of the day in slack-jawed amazement, perusing what a student in a working-class town was expected to know before the mavens of education began tinkering with the curricula of our schools. Christmas Lights Go Out in Europe

Christmas Lights Go Out in Europeby Bruce Bawer –
The lights are going out all over Europe. The Christmas tree lights, that is. Not all of them all at once, mind you, but one at a time – one here, one there, one Christmas season after another.

Just the other day, for example, came the news about a co-op apartment building in Kokkedal, Denmark.

Not long ago, the co-op, which has a considerable number of Muslim residents, spent 60,000 kroner (about $10,000) to celebrate the holiday of Eid. Three days afterwards, however, when the co-op board, consisting of five Muslims and four unbelievers, got together to decide whether to spend approximately 5000 kroner on a Christmas tree – a tradition in the building – they voted the proposition down. Obama Administration Can’t Think of Any Restrictions on Abortion

Democrats Pro Abortionby John Jalsevac –
“The Democratic Party used to say [abortion] should be ‘safe, legal and rare,’” said Paul Ryan. “Now they support it without restriction and with taxpayer funding. Taxpayer funding in ObamaCare, taxpayer funding with foreign aid.”

After the [vice-presidential] debate John McCormack of the Weekly Standard decided to press Obama officials on whether the president really is extreme on the issue, asking them if they could name any abortion restrictions that Obama supports.

McCormack queried Obama officials Jim Messina, Stephanie Cutter, and David Axelrod, and then, when none were able to name any restrictions Obama supports, he went to Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards, who maintains a close relationship with the administration. [Read more…]

Obama: A Man Without a Conscience

Obama: A Man Without a Conscienceby Daren Jonescu –
For a long time, intrepid critics of Barack Obama have described him, accurately, as a pathological liar. The Benghazi affair must force even the most circumspect among us to recognize that the problem is even more serious: the president of the United States has no conscience.

Most men do bad things during their lives. But most men know when they are doing a bad thing, and, more importantly, they feel bad about it. This is why, for most of us, bad behavior has its limits. There is a point beyond which we simply will not go, even for a greatly desired advantage. Our minds will not let us do it. We say things like “I couldn’t live with myself if I did that.” [Read more…]

My Country Gives to Me, Sweet Land of Everything is Free

Obamunism Communism in Americaby Ted State –
When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the Republic. ~ Ben Franklin.

What was really lost in this election was not the GOP hopes and dreams of a new future. It was actually a lot more than that. What was really lost was the sense of the American individualist spirit. No more pulling yourself up by your bootstraps (if you are lucky enough to find a store that has them), no more starting a business (apparently we really didn’t build it) and no working hard to get ahead (at some point you have made enough money.) Instead of all that, the people voted to give themselves more at the expense of others and that is a much more serious loss than the mere presidency.

Economists have long theorized that there would come a day where the people riding in the cart would outnumber the people pulling the cart and that day has arrived. Congratulations Democrats. You did it. Free healthcare, free cell phones, food stamps, section 8 housing and a whole host of free goodies are now not only the law of the land, they are what the people have come to demand and worse, what they have come to expect. The Death of Ordinary Decency

Obama radical marxist hates Americaby James Lewis-
This has been a mean-spirited campaign, and the meanest, most destructive people won.

So be it.

In the last two Democratic administrations we have seen a sleazier, angrier and more selfish part of America rising up more and more in our political class. The Founders told us that ultimately our elected politicians are a mirror of ourselves. Just like you, before November 7, 2012, I lived in the fervent hope that the degradation of the Clinton and Obama years might be an exception to the long trend of American history. But two times eight years of radical leftists in high office can’t be an accident. We can’t just blame our sleazy media, or just the leftist political class, as corrupt and malevolent as they truly are.

No — the balance of decency in America has changed. Every society has normal, decent people and the other kind. The America we grew up in was fundamentally decent. Decency was the expected standard.

Now the balance has changed. [Read more…]

Obama’s Communist Cooperation Campaign Proceeds Apace

Useful Idiots Communism Obama Marxist Radicalby Daren Jonescu –
America’s most prominent, dedicated communists support Barack Obama and are actively campaigning on his behalf. If that sentence makes you uncomfortable, then you have two choices: continue reading and face your fear, or stop reading and get back to whatever activities you normally use to drown out disturbing thoughts.

In an age of mass media disinformation and distraction, one expects the politically neutered majority to find the legitimate vocabulary of open political discussion — freedom, communism, socialism, oppression — uncomfortable and strange. These words disturb their moral tranquility — that sense of “no big deal” normalcy that allows them to carry on with everyday activities, unperturbed by the kinds of questions that [Read more…]

Democrats Go All In for Abortion Rights

Democrats Pro Abortionby David Nather –
This was supposed to be an election in which the economy dominated the debate, social issues took a backseat and the culture wars were put on hold.

Yet in the homestretch of the 2012 campaign, abortion politics is coloring races up and down the ticket.

And it’s by design.

Democrats have gone all in for abortion rights, with none of the hedging or defensiveness they’ve shown in recent years — a subtle but striking repositioning with political consequences that extend far beyond Nov. 6.

The evidence of it is impossible to miss. The airwaves are choked with messaging about women’s reproductive health. Abortion rights advocates had prime speaking roles at the Democratic convention. Contraception advocate Sandra Fluke is a prominent campaign trail surrogate. Cecile Richards, head of Planned Parenthood, recently introduced President Barack Obama at a Virginia campaign rally.
