The Bible Calls it a Sin

Moral clarity from Metropolitan Kyrill, foreign minister of the Russian Orthodox Church.

Spiegel Online | Metropolitan Kyrill | Jan. 10, 2008

Metropolitan Kyrill, foreign minister of the Russian Orthodox Church, discusses Christian values in the post-communist era, his relationship with the pope in Rome, Vladimir Putin the churchgoer — and wrangles with SPIEGEL about homosexuality.

+Kyrill: “The Bible calls it a sin. But we do not condemn these people. The church is opposed to these people being persecuted or offended. But why should sin be propagated? The gay parade is a blatant display of sodomy. In that case, we might as well promote other sins, as has long been the case on television. This degenerates public morality.” [Read more…]

PETA Requests Vegetarian Diet in Jail for Cannibalism Suspect

According to PETA, humans eating other humans is the same as humans eating steak, fish, or chicken. More lunacy from the radical left.

Financial Mirror | Kenneth Dean | Jan. 11, 2008

Sheriff’s officials were astounded Thursday by a letter [from PETA] requesting the man accused of murdering his girlfriend and possibly participating in cannibalism be placed on a vegetarian diet to keep him from being “involved in any senseless killing” while incarcerated. [Read more…]

Who Will Control Your Thermostat?

The totalitarian impulses of the leftists ruling California are bearing fruit and further encroach on our liberties.

American Thinker | Joseph Somsel | Jan. 4, 2008

There is nothing wrong with your thermostat. Do not attempt to adjust the temperature. We are controlling your power consumption. If we wish to make it hotter, we will turn off your air conditioner. If we wish to make it cooler, we will turn off your heater. For the next millennium, sit quietly and we will control your home temperature. [Read more…]

Modern Beetles Predate Dinosaurs

Evidence of more problems with the universal “macro-evolutionary” theory. It seems beetles are also exempt from evolution. They join the mighty cockroach, horseshoe crab, and many other species who stopped progressing millions of years ago.

LiveScience | Dave Mosher | Dec. 26, 2007

Wait, don’t squash that beetle! Its lineage predates dinosaurs. New research hints that modern-day versions of the insects are far older than any tyrannosaur that trod the Earth. [Read more…]

High Property Taxes Force Senior Citizens into Indebted Servitude

High property taxes in Greenburgh, NY are placing drastic burderns on its senior citizens. Retirees with modest incomes who own their own homes face outrageous property tax bills that threaten their ownership rights and their retirement. One example is Audrey Davison who lives alone and gets a $620 Social Security check each month and owes $12,000/year in property taxes.

Rather than slashing the astronomically high property taxes or eliminating them, the town is offering instead to make its retirees gov’t indebted servants at $7/hour in order to pay off their taxes. This is indeed another dreadful consequence of leftist, big government policies gone wild. Real property rights are continuing to erode in the US, while our march toward communism accelerates. The Nativity of Christ 2007 – Archbishop Demetrios

Greek Orthodox Church of America | Archbishop Demetrios | Dec. 25, 2007

On this glorious day of the Feast of the Nativity of our Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ we celebrate the truly historical, universal, and eternal event of His Incarnation. It is historical, for at the divinely appointed time He entered our human history by being conceived and formed in the womb of the Virgin Mary, and was born of her in a cave in Bethlehem. It is universal because the Son of God, the divine Logos of Creation, took upon himself human flesh and blood so that He might redeem us and all of the universe from the burden of sin and death.

His Incarnation The Nativity of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and birth has eternal significance because through His life, we are offered life, not just a mortal and earthly life, but unending life. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). Why The Christmas Wars Matter

Human Events | Gary Bauer | Dec. 21, 2007

The secular grinches were out in full force again this pre-Christmas season. But it is not just crèches and twinkling lights that the secularists want to ban — their ultimate goal is the elimination off all faith-based thought from public life.

Barbara Walters, co-host of ABC’s The View, spent much of a recent show grumbling about receiving a Christmas card from President and Mrs. Bush that included a Bible verse. Walters said, “This is what interested me, that it is a religious card. Usually, in the past when I have received a Christmas card, it’s been ‘happy holidays’ and so on… [Read more…]
